Demon Hunter - The Triptych
Snap Your Demon - wookubus (3:16 PM PST 07/28/2005) Demon Hunter have recorded a cover of Prong's "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck" for their upcoming new album "The Triptych", which will be released with three different album covers when it arrives in stores in October through Solid State. The band describe the effort as being their "heaviest, most technical and traditionally metal oriented album thus far. The drums, guitars and vocals will be more diverse and punishing than ever." I like how they described the album, now they have my interest. It's good to hear that Solid State is starting to bring back metal bands after their big metalcore and nu-metal binge which began in 2002.

I know they have the talent to pull off something good. I'm just not holding my breath expecting them to actually come through.

I am thoroughly excited about this album, demon hunter has been one of my favorite metal bands for a while, ever since I got the first 2 albums.

how can you not like the first two albums? they're a little generic, but it's rare to have a standout in that genre

Muad'Dib- 08-01-2005

Well, I enjoyed the first one some when it came out. I did buy the second. But... I don't really like nuMetal, at least the bands that I'd define as nuMetal. I like Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and the Deftones. I've decided that Project 86 is alternative rock, hard rock, and post hardcore (just like they say.) I can't tolerate most metalcore. I did like TFU. I like DEP and Lamb of God. I don't like Slipknot (a metalcore/numetal band) and so i can't profess to like a band that essentially set out to be an improved Slipknot, marketed to Christians.

I like the first album, there are some crappy songs, but overall a good disc. I can't stand a good portion of their second release, so I'm hoping that Macaddon and the Clark Brothers can create something better this time round.

The Enforcer- 11-02-2005

I got this album. It's anywhere near as good as Self Titled, but it's a good improvement over Summer of Darkness. The big weakness with this album is there are some very solid songs thrown amongst some poor Slipknot wannabe tracks.

I'm getting it tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. I like what this band has done for the most part.

Muad'Dib- 11-02-2005

So... were any of the "good" songs on purevolume... because I had to keep skipping half way through each song untill I got to Infected. I mean... you guys realize that at this point they're just taking this schtick they have going and bringing it to new limits of cheesey nuMetalness. They were a joke to begin with... but this has gone too far.

The Enforcer- 11-02-2005

I haven't been on their PureVolume site in awhile, so other than Deteriorate, I don't think anything decent is on there. As stated before, I don't care what you think, I don't let others decide what music I listen to.

Muad'Dib- 11-02-2005

I'm aware of that, but this is a music discussion forum, and I am allowed to discuss music. I'm not imposing my taste on anyone here.

so i finally got it yesterday via mail. (i got it free using McDonalds Best Buy Bucks!! Didn't feel like paying for it) and yeah, it sounds TOO much like SOD. It starts off REALLY good, then it just sorta fades into the same stuff. Normally their slow songs are good, and they were still OK on this album. Their first CD is still their best. and not too many STANDOUT songs on this album. so yeah....i dunno, they're ok, but they gotta start changing it up... Most of their songs sounded like NOT READY TO DIE.

so i finally got it yesterday via mail. (i got it free using McDonalds Best Buy Bucks!! Didn't feel like paying for it) That's odd, they impose a $3 limit on CDs and DVDs in store. I figured it would have carried over online.

Dynasty Paintball- 11-04-2005

yeah, used them online... the limit online is $40. i used 30 on the DH cd and the Underoath Re-release.
