The Nitty Gritty
Republicans still in the race:
Mitt Romney
Rudy Giuliani
John McCain
Mike Huckabee
Ron Paul

Democrats still in the race:
Barack Obama
Hillary Clinton
John Edwards
Dennis Kucinich
Mike Gravel

If I had to guess, I'd say Rudy Giuliani, Mike Gravel, and Dennis Kucinich will be the next ones to drop out. Gravel and Kucinich because no one really knows them (therefore primaries kind of suck for them) and Rudy Giuliani because his standings in the primaries have been mediocre and while he's hopeful for Florida, early polling shows him second to John McCain. He could pull it, but if he doesn't, he's out.

truthdivides- 01-25-2008

Kucinich dropped out recently. I think Edwards, Huckabee, and Giuliani will drop after Super Tuesday. I'm not really sure when Gravel will drop. He could go anytime.

I'd like to see Rudy win Florida and just screw up the GOP race even more. It'd be nice if all 5 GOPs stayed in untill Sept also. I want to see a brokered convention.

ChickensForRent- 01-26-2008

Yeah, Kucinich must have just dropped out within the last 24 hours because I check it freakishly often.

I think I'm obsessed with politics.

I'd like to see Giuliani take Florida, but I think he's moved down to third (below McCain and Romney) in preliminary polls.

As much as I'd like to see a democrat in office, I would rather it not be Hillary. I have many opinions about her, but the point is this: I was born in 1984 and for almost every year of my life, there has been a Clinton or a Bush in office. Change, please?

I'm a pretty big supporter of Obama, but I don't know if he can beat Clinton.

Muad'Dib- 01-26-2008

I'm really pretty confident that it will be McCain vs. Obama in the end.

ChickensForRent- 01-26-2008

That would be sweet.

ChickensForRent- 01-27-2008

...and McCain and Obama took South Carolina.

truthdivides- 01-27-2008

I think it'll be Romney vs. Obama.

ChickensForRent- 01-29-2008

Mitt Romney and John McCain are very close to each other in numbers.

I think it will be really close.

Superficially.

Now that Florida is done:

1) Rudy can jut drop out
2) McCain is now the huge favorite. He just won a large closed primary. Which means he's now gaining the Right to go along with his huge support among Independents. And if Rudy officially drops out, you'd have to think it will be McCain that benefit most.... so... I don't know... the vote could be... close-ish next week... but it will take something big for Romney to come back.

True. Giuliani will drop out. And probably soon. If Florida wasn't enough, look at early polling in New York. :-/

John McCain seems like he has been a favorite for a while, and Florida helped him a lot. Unfortunately, I don't see Romney leaving anytime soon. I'm actually happy that McCain is doing this well. He's been pretty low on money in general for a while, and it's pretty impressive that he's held on this long.

Muad'Dib- 01-29-2008

Yes, but now he's the huge favorite.

ChickensForRent- 01-30-2008

Fo sho.

truthdivides- 01-30-2008

Yeah, I've heard that Rudy and Edwards are dropping out today. and that Rudy will endorse McCain. He's banking on McCain getting the nomination and getting VP. Edwards isn't endorsing anybody right away. He's probably hoping to get the VP again.

ChickensForRent- 01-30-2008

nice.

The Enforcer- 02-03-2008

I think you're right. I haven't done too much research on either candidate, but if it comes down to those two, as of now I'd have to vote for Obama.
