Whether you want to know or not
I am going to give you an update about my Spring Semester so far.

I am taking:
Constitutional Development
Stats for Social Sciences
Life Wellness
Spanish
Geographies of Islam

I am stressed, but I will live, I'm sure.
Constitutional Development is a tough one. Briefing 3 cases for every class period. Crazy.

Other than that, things are ok.

Over the Christmas break, my dad had surgery. He has cirrhosis, and due to this, he was going completely unconscious and spitting up buckets of blood (no exaggeration). He went into the hospital 3 times in December, and the final time included a blood transfusion (7 pints of blood) and a surgery which involved drilling a hole in his liver and inserting a shunt to help the blood flow. While in the hospital, he gained 48 pounds of water weight, due to a strictly liquid diet for the first 5 days he was in the hospital.

He is doing great now, other than the fact that he still has about 20-30 pounds of excess weight in his stomach area, causing him to walk and feel like a pregnant woman. So at times, he has trouble breathing. But basically, the liver surgery and the blood transplant were successful. He will never be able to work again, because up until he couldn't work anymore, he always did manual labor. And now that he has that shunt in his liver, one wrong move could break it and that could be fatal.

He has been off of the alcohol for almost 2 months. The doctor told him when he went in the first time (December 8th) that he could continue to drink, but if he did so, he would die. So he chose to quit.

The moral of this story is that my dad is doing a lot better, and I just thought I would let those of you who have been keeping up with the drama of my life know that. :)

Oh and P.S. If you have ever donated blood, thank you. While it probably wasn't the blood my dad received, giving blood does save lives.
